    How much money can I transfer to Japan?

    Up to EUR 5,000 can be sent for collection in cash or by bank transfer.

    How to send money to Japan online?
    1. Create a profile or log in to your Western Union account and click ‘Continue’.
    2. Select ‘Japan’ in the ‘Send to’ box and enter the amount to be sent in the corresponding box.
    3. Once the desired amount has been entered, it is necessary to choose how the recipient will receive the payment: to the bank account or by cash withdrawal.
    4. In the next box, select a payment method. You should now have access to a complete quote.
    5. Click “Continue” to go to the next page and enter your details and those of the beneficiary. You will also be asked to indicate the reason for the transfer and the origin of the funds.
    6. Once the shipment has been confirmed, you will receive a unique tracking number (MTCN) so that you can check the progress of the transfer. We encourage you to share this number with your beneficiary.
    What do I need to send money online in Japan?

    If you have not already done so, create a free Western Union profile. Visit our registration page and enter the following information:

    • Name and address.
    • Information on an official identity document, such as a driving licence or passport.

    Once registered, you can start setting up your money transfer in Japan by entering the following information:

    • Details on the reason for the transfer and the origin of the funds.
    • The name, postal address and email address of the beneficiary.
